The Broken Heart
I try to imagine what it’s like
To sit in your blessed company
The Sahaba’s gazes fixed upon you
Learning a matter of Incumbency
And there you are in all your might
Leaning against that blessed tree
Your Noor is so overwhelming
I can’t raise my head to look at thee
Oh, what a beautiful sight
It must have been
The very best of all creation
Teaching us our Deen
My beloved, my eyes feel so deprived
For I have not seen
My heart hurts because I long for you
My Prophet, I send my Salaam to you
اللهم صل على سيدنا ومولانا محمد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

I try to imagine what it’s like
To be led in the prayer by you
I try to imagine how the Prophets felt
In al-Aqsa, when they prostrated with you
The Sahaba have expressed their love
In the written form of your path
And those blessed by a visit from you
For this, we love the Awliya of our past
Oh what a beautiful sight
It must have been
The very best of all creation
Bringing us our Deen
My beloved, my eyes feel so deprived
For I have not seen
My heart hurts because I long for you
My Prophet, I send my Salaam to you

I try to imagine what it’s like
To be present while you receive revelation
I try to think about how I would feel
Would I fall in to deep supplication?
My Nabi, I ask Allah for forgiveness
For my deceit to you
I am a true believer and a true sinner
My heart is broken in to two
I talk about the beautiful thought of seeing you
But really, I am not worthy of you
So, I turn to Allah and ask for purification
So, my dreams can be blessed by you
Oh, what a beautiful sight
it will be
When the very best of all creation
will come to visit me
My beloved, my eyes won’t be deprived
For I will be able to see
My hearts pain will be healed by you
My Prophet, I say my Salaam to you
